WILSON CREEK — Initial ballot counts from the Feb. 10 special election show Wilson Creek School District’s replacement Educational Programs and Operations levy passing with 58.02% approval as of Feb. 11. Voters cast 47 yes votes and 34 no votes, according to the initial results. The election will be certified Feb. 20.

Superintendent and Principal Kandice Hansen said the district is grateful for the community’s support and that the levy passage will allow Wilson Creek to continue providing its current programs.

“We’ll be able to maintain the programs that we have in place in regard to athletics and continue with our maintenance of our facilities and our grounds,” Hansen said.

The levy supports services and activities not fully funded by the state. Hansen said the district does not have major changes planned and intends to continue offering the same educational and extracurricular opportunities.

“We’ll be maintaining our current offerings,” she said.

Hansen expressed appreciation for residents who participated in the election.

“Thank you for voting,” she said, noting that Wilson Creek’s strong sense of community remains one of the district’s greatest strengths.

“It’s an awesome community, and I think they know that,” she said.
