With Arlee’s regular season wrapped up, there was just Mission basketball in the Class B Lake County ranks. It was senior night for the Bulldogs, who played Feb. 21.
Mission Girls 55, Eureka Girls 28
It was another successful week as Mission celebrated a strong senior class against Eureka on Feb. 21.
The seniors honored that night were Sheadon Kain, Cora Matt, Leslia Stops and Brooklyn McClure.
The Lady Bulldogs continued a 10-game win streak against the Lady Lions as they started convincingly. Their defense has been strong all year and containing the Lady Lions to just four points in the first quarter was a sign.
They only allowed double-digit scoring in the final quarter and scored in double-digits in every quarter in response. The Lady Bulldogs were heading into this game with nothing to lose but they still managed to come out on top, winning 55-28.
Matt led the team with 17 points. She also reached 200 points scoring on the season. Kieran Incashola and McClure followed that up with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Mission keeps their first place spot at 7-0 in the district with one game remaining in the season.
Eureka Boys 42, Mission Boys 35
Mission tried to end a three-game losing streak on Feb. 21 against Eureka, but ultimately fell short.
Lex LaFrombois, Wyatt Branson, Jake Helser and Jacob Piedalue were all honored on this senior night.
It was a tight game early with an 11-11 score. The Bulldogs were fighting but the Lions held them to just six points to take a two-point lead heading into halftime.
The Bulldogs and the Lions had another 11-11 quarter in the third but the Bulldogs still trailed going into the fourth quarter. They never managed to overcome the small deficit and allowed the Lions to outscore them 12-7. Eureka won 42-35.
LaFrombois had 21 points to lead all Bulldog scorers. Mission sits at 4-3 in the district and in second place behind Eureka.
