Premier Tire brings full-service expertise to Ponderay

I grew up in the Tri-Cities, Wash., and have always loved to write. I attended the University of Washington, where I earned a double major in journalism and political science, with an area of emphasis in history. I am the fifth out of six kids — don't believe any of the stories that my siblings tell. To be able to tell others stories and take photos for a living is a dream come true — and I considered myself blessed to be a community journalist. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking and spending time outdoors, genealogy, reading, and watching the UW Huskies and the Seattle Seahawks. I am a servant to my cat, Frankie, who yes, will eat anything and everything in sight … even wedding cookies. | January 2, 2026 1:00 AM

PONDERAY — David and Brennan Till grew up working in their father's full-service tire shop.

It's no surprise, then, that the pair would open their own facility, launching Premier Tire in Priest River in early 2024. Now the business is set to open a second location to serve customers in the Ponderay and Sandpoint areas. The Ponderay location opens today, Jan. 2.

"As one of the last-standing locally owned tire companies in the area, our goal is to provide the pricing, service and customer service that customers expect," said David Till, whose brother Brennan is a part-owner of Premier Tire. "We pride ourselves on being honest, knowledgeable and hard-working and are excited for the opportunity to provide the Ponderay/Sandpoint area with the same great service that we’re already providing in Priest River."

Multi-generational locals, the brothers have more than 10 years of industry experience and take pride in providing a wide range of products that fit any budget, lifestyle and driving needs. Premier Tire also offers third-party, same-day financing.

The company's knowledgeable employees and competitive pricing help set it apart from other tire shops in the area, Till said.

"You can be sure one of your most important assets — your vehicle — is in good hands and will keep you and your family safe on the road at a fair price," he said.

To help take the stress out of the process, Premier offers easy financing with no hard credit checks and zero-interest options. Customers can easily set up an account through the company's third-party system and make payments without impacting their credit score.

"Premier isn’t bound by the same red tape as our corporate competitors, which means our customers can take advantage of more product and service options and more transparency about what we do," he said.

The shop also features a large, comfortable waiting room with a TV and free coffee and tea — "not that you’ll need it long, as we pride ourselves on our fast and efficient service," Till said.

For those who don't like to wait, the business is located within walking distance of several shopping centers, restaurants and activities.

It was after David Till and his wife, Kantrel, found out they were expecting their first child, Solomon, that he knew they needed to stop talking and make it happen.

"We knew if this back-burner dream were to ever become a reality, and if we were going to have something meaningful to pass on to our son someday, that we had to do it now before we got too wrapped up in kids and mortgages that we couldn’t afford to take the risk of a new business venture," David Till said.

Since Premier Tire opened in Priest River in early 2024, things have gone better than we dreamed, Till said.

A full-service tire shop, Premier Tire offers tires of all sizes, from snow blower tires to passenger and light truck tires to commercial tires and everything in between. The staff also does brakes, front-end and suspension work and wheel alignments, as well as custom wheels, lift kits and more.

With Kantrel Till growing up in Priest River, it made sense to open their first tire shop in the community. When it came time to expand, the Ponderay/Sandpoint area was a natural next step for the second location.

Till said Premier Tire's Priest River location has garnered a great reputation in the commercial tire space — such as for log trucks, tractors and buses — but the full-service tire shop also services passenger and light truck vehicles and hopes to expand more into that market as they open this new location.

"Quotes and coffee are free, so we hope that customers will try us out when shopping for new tires and/or when needing their front-end vehicle service," Till said.

Over the next year, Till said they are confident customers will find Premier Tire offers great products and service at a great price.

"We would not be opening our second location only a year and a half out from our inception if we were not absolutely confident in what our business has to offer compared to our competitors," Till said. "We already know that what we’re doing works because we’ve already been doing it in Priest River, and we’re excited to share that in this area."

Premier Tire is located at 878 Kootenai Cutoff Road in Ponderay and 5838 U.S. 2 in Priest River. It can be found on Facebook at Premier Tire and by phone at 208-255-1191 in Ponderay and 208-448-0549 in Priest River.
