Charlo and Two Eagle River girls and boys took on multiple tough Class C opponents last week. Here's a look at the scores from those match-ups:

Charlo vs. Noxon in doubleheader

The Noxon Red Devils boys and girls teams went to Charlo for a doubleheader on Jan. 9. The Lady Vikings were dominant against the Lady Red Devils, allowing only 16 points over the whole game.

It was not just a defensive clinic but an offensive one as well. Charlo put up 68 with multiple girls getting into double-digits. Brook Cahoon led the way for the Lady Vikings with 14 points en route to the 68-16 victory.

The Charlo boys were hoping to pick up a win as well with Noxon in town and they delivered in a much closer match-up than the girls.

Noxon and Charlo battled back and forth early, trading leads for the first three quarters of the game. While it wasn’t high scoring, it was a battle of consistency. The Vikings ended up finding the boost needed to come out on top.

A 24-point fourth quarter gave Charlo the decisive lead and the 59-48 victory. Carson Cox was the leading scorer with 19 points, while his teammate Ronson Hout followed up with a solid 17 points.

Hot Springs posts one-point win over Charlo

Charlo took a trip to Hot Springs to take on the Lady Savage Heat on Jan. 10 in a close, low-scoring game. Hot Springs squeaked by with a 41-40 win.

Both teams started slowly with just single-digit scoring in the first quarter. However, Charlo took the lead in the second quarter, giving hope for a weekend sweep for the Lady Vikings. It looked even better after a 19-point third quarter.

However, Charlo lost the energy it had in the first three quarters and surrendered a once firm nine-point lead. The Lady Vikings could only score three points as the Lady Savage Heat came back with 13 points, winning the game outright in the fourth quarter.

Brielle Zempel had a nice scoring game for Charlo and finished with 16 points.

Savage Heat also tops Lady Eagles, 51-34

The Two Eagle River Lady Eagles also took on Hot Springs but struggled to keep up against a team on a hot streak, and ultimately lost, 51-34.

The Lady Savage Heat managed to keep the Lady Eagles tame on offense, allowing just 12 points combined in the first half. Two Eagle River managed to keep Hot Springs from any breakout performances in the first half, but the second half proved more difficult.

The Lady Savage Heat finished the game with a 23-point fourth quarter, increasing just a six-point lead out of the third quarter into a 17-point lead. The Lady Eagles had their best scoring quarter in the fourth but it wasn’t enough to make a full comeback.

Dezalynn Lindquist led the way with nine points for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles had a chance at redemption on Jan. 10 when they took on the Superior Lady Bobcats on the road.

Two Eagle River struggled early as Superior controlled the defensive pace. The Lady Eagles could only manage single-digit scoring in each quarter, collecting only three points in two of the four quarters.

Superior was also consistent offensively. With a 22-point second quarter, it had managed to take full control of the game. Without relenting, the Lady Bobcats won 58-22, leaving the Lady Eagles at 0-2 on the weekend.

Keke Tenas was the top scorer for Two Eagle River with nine points.

Two Eagle River boys best Superior

Two Eagle River bucked the losing trend with a win on the road against Superior, 79-71.

It was a high-scoring match-up with the Eagles taking the early 23-20 lead in the first quarter. After keeping it close in the second quarter, Two Eagle jumped ahead even more with a 19-point third-quarter performance.

Superior had a strong fourth quarter but the Eagles never relented. They outscored the Bobcats 20-19 in the final quarter, giving Two Eagle River the 79-71 victory.

Gannon Quinlan had a standout performance with 31 points to help lead Two Eagle River to the win.
