Lake County’s Class B participants saw some mixed results throughout this past week with the Mission Lady Bulldogs continuing to soar. Here’s a look at some of the results from Arlee and Mission basketball.
Mission Girls 66, Plains Girls 32
In the Lady Bulldogs' only game of the week, they took on the Plains Lady Trotters on Jan. 23.
Much like how Mission has done all year, they dominated early. It was another quick start for a team that has seen little resistance from opponents. Following a strong start, the Lady Bulldogs rolled into the second half with two 20-point quarters, and allowed 14 points for the entire back end of the game.
The Lady Trotters struggled to contain the offensive pressure that Mission put on, leading to a 66-32 Lady Bulldogs win.
Sheadon Kain hit her season high with 20 points. Teammate Brooklyn McClure hit 300 points in her varsity career, while Cora Matt went over 100 rebounds for the season.
Mission Boys 67, Plains Boys 49
The Bulldogs also trounced Plains Jan. 23 in a game almost completely run through Mission. The Bulldogs started off slow in the first but dominated offensively after that. Their 20-point second quarter propelled Mission into the lead, where they never looked back.
It was a convincing 67-49 win for the Bulldogs, where Lex LaFrombois led with 23 points. Vinny Shepard was a key contributor too popping in 20 points of his own.
St. Regis Boys 46, Mission Boys 40
The Mission boys started their week with a roadtrip on Jan. 20 to St. Regis.
It was a close one with neither team finding the edge early on. Despite the back-and-forth in the first half, the Bulldogs came out swinging in the third quarter with 17 points. That boost put Mission up 31-27.
However, the Tigers pounced in the fourth quarter with a 19-point answer to the Bulldogs' late run. Mission could only put up nine points in response, leading to the 46-40 defeat.
Vinny Shepard was the team’s leader in scoring with an impressive 18 points on the night.
Arlee Boys 70, Darby Boys 67 (OT)
It was a spectacle at Arlee High School on Jan. 24 when the Darby Tigers came to town. The Warriors were itching for a win at home and they got it.
Despite going down early, Arlee did not relent. The Tigers led 35-28 going into halftime but they could not keep up those offensive numbers. The Warriors held strong with a better defensive presence while continuing to score the ball well. That helped tie the game and send it to overtime.
It was there that Arlee finished just a possession ahead of Darby, winning out 70-67. Arlee’s Kade DuPuis-Pablo was the star for his team’s comeback with 20 points, all on his birthday.
Results for Arlee’s boys and girls games against Anaconda, along with Arlee’s girls game against Darby, have not been published at the time of this story’s publication.
