MOSES LAKE — Residents may notice an increased law enforcement presence at Vanguard Academy this week as the Washington State Patrol conducts SWAT training exercises on campus July 15 through 17.

According to a press release from the Moses Lake School District, the training will involve multiple crisis-response scenarios, including simulated school shooting incidents.

Community members may see specialized tactical vehicles, SWAT personnel, sniper and overwatch teams and other emergency response equipment during the exercises.

District officials emphasized that the activity is only a training exercise and does not reflect any actual emergencies.

To ensure first responders can train safely and without interruption, the public is being asked to avoid the Vanguard Academy campus throughout the three-day training period.

School district officials thanked the community for its understanding and support as the Washington State Patrol and partnering agencies work to strengthen emergency response preparedness through the training.
