The 3Cs organization started as a bowling league in the 1960s, called the Cancer Crusaders. Since then, the organization has raised and donated over $3 million for Kootenai County charities.
This year, the 3Cs will donate $137,000 to 28 Kootenai County organizations.
The 504-member group raises money by paying dues and participating in a number of activities, including the Coeur d'Aleers singing group, a fashion show, and luncheons.
The organization distributes money to charities covering everything from children to veterans, all while keeping the donations local.
“We cover a niche that other charities do not,” said 3Cs member Mary Ann Herston.
Members met Wednesday to decide how to disperse funds, which they will announce at their annual appreciation lunch Aug. 21 at the Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn.

With the passage of HB 533 in February, and having taken effect on July 1, Idaho motorists are no longer required to display registration tabs on the corner of their license plates, nor will they receive them from the state.

Neither Temple or Larcher had experience running a restaurant. “We took a huge, long shot and put it together,” Larcher said.

A group of state and local legislators gathered for breakfast and coffee at the inaugural “Council of Mayors” meeting in an effort to open communication and have discussions around legislation in Idaho at Kindred Coffee Co. in Post Falls on Tuesday.
