A Kalispell man allegedly left a string of threatening voicemails with an ex-girlfriend years after she went to the police with concerns that he had sexually abused her children.

Grant Thomas Nelson, 47, is accused of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and rape her two girls in the recordings, made between February and September 2025. Charged with felony intimidation and held in the county jail on $100,000 bail, Nelson is expected to appear before Judge Dan Wilson in Flathead County District Court on July 16 for his arraignment.

His ex first raised the allegations of sexual abuse in September 2021 and asked authorities to investigate Nelson, according to court documents. Although Nelson answered a few questions in November of that year, he subsequently declined to speak further with investigators, court documents said.

His ex again approached the authorities, this time the Kalispell Police Department, in March 2025. She described receiving seven disturbing voicemails from Nelson between Feb. 25 and March 3, court documents said.

In one message, Nelson allegedly admitted to sexually abusing the woman's children and in another he pledged to kill her. He left more voicemails in the same vein through September, according to court documents.

Prosecutors filed the felony charge against Nelson in December of that year and he was booked into the county jail on June 17, 2026.

Felony intimidation is punishable by up to 10 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
