Production company sets up shop in Post Falls

Spokane Productions, a professional studio and full-service creative agency originally based in Liberty Lake, Wash., has relocated to 5380 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls.
“We do video production — we do audio and music recordings — podcasts — and basically anything audio related,” Studio Director Rob Miller said. “We also do corporate headshots, portrait photography and sit-down interviews.”
A niche market, Miller said, they’ve also discovered is automated dialogue recording, or ADR, which is a post-production process used in filmmaking to re-record dialogue in a controlled environment.
“Essentially, there are a couple of uses for it. First, you have an episodic TV show where the host goes into the field; they record the show, but then they need to narrate to the audience what's happening,” Miller said. “The other is used in a feature film, where there may be some noise in the shot or the actor misses a line, or for some reason the audio needs to be redone.”
Miller said companies will send them the film so the talent can see it, get a cue to redo their line in their studio and then blend that into the final film.
“There are not a lot of companies that I'm aware of in the area that does this,” Miller said. “It's technically challenging — but it’s a great tool to bring in business. We've had clients from all over the country — all over the world hire us.”
Some of the clients Spokane Productions has provided ADR and narration work for include National Geographic and actress and producer Sydney Sweeney.
“We did five seasons of narration for the 'Primal Survivor' episodes for National Geographic and some ADR for Sydney for 'The Housemaid,'” Miller said. She came in and did about 30 minutes of lines for that.”
Miller said they’ve also worked with Zooey Deschanel and Casey Affleck, who filmed a scene of "Dreamin’ Wild" in their studio.
He’s currently doing episodic narration with David Henrie.
“His show is called 'Seeking Beauty,'” Miller said. “He was also in 'How I Met Your Mother,' 'Wizards of Waverly Place,' and a couple of other Disney shows.”
Miller said they work with musicians, too.
“We’ve done everything from adding hip-hop vocals to a track to full band, drums, guitar, violin, flute, everything,” Miller said. “A couple of weeks ago, we did some mixing and mastering for a band from Libby, Mont., and helped them release their music to the world.”
Studio work is Miller’s passion as well.
“I love when people come in and make music because by the time they are ready to record in a studio, they really have done their homework,” Miller said. “We also get a little sneak peek into what's coming up on TV. So, we get to be among the first people to see it. And we get to witness the talent of these people, which is just incredible.”

Local boy stars in Travolta movie
“When they told me I got the starring role, I freaked out. I was shocked because I never thought I would have gotten the chance to star in a movie, let alone with John Travolta, who I really didn’t know at the time," Clark said.
