Ephrata School Board seeking board applicants after resignation

EPHRATA — The Ephrata School District is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on its Board of Directors following the resignation of Director Jim Adams, effective June 30. 

The board will appoint a candidate to serve the remainder of Adams’ term through December 2029, according to a district statement. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, registered voters and residents within Director District No. 4. 

Candidates are required to submit a one-page biographical sketch or resume along with a one-page statement of interest explaining their qualifications and reasons for seeking the position. Applications are due by 3 p.m. July 24. 

Interviews are scheduled to take place in August, with the selected candidate expected to take the oath of office at the Aug. 24 school board meeting.

MATTAWA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has called a level two fire evacuation (Get Set) in Mattawa near the area of Road U Southwest and Road 24.7 Southwest Monday at 6:30 p.m. Radio traffic reported the fire to be around 2 to 3 acres. The evacuation was removed at 8:40 p.m. after the fire was contained, according to GCSO.
