Chase Tait, a former Polson standout and son of longtime Polson basketball head coach, is set to take over as Miles Community College’s athletic director following the end of the athletic season.

Tait is a 1988 graduate of Polson High School and a 1992 Montana State University graduate with a bachelor’s in elementary education. He also has a master’s degree from Lesley University in Massachusetts.

He is also the son of Karl Tait, who last coached for Polson basketball back in 2009.

Chase has been with Miles Community College since 2009, serving in various roles throughout his time there. He has taught multiple math courses and is currently listed at their Director of Sports Media.

Chase has been the men’s basketball head coach at Miles Community College, where the team has made multiple Region IX Final Fours and reached a Region XIII title game.

While his success on the hardwood has been evident, he is going to try and take that same approach to the office as he takes over for current athletic director Jimmy Olson after his eight-year tenure.

His retirement will coincide with the end of the 2025-2026 athletic season for Miles Community College. That end could be as late as May 28, depending on whether the baseball team can move deep into the postseason.
