QUINCY — The Adams Road overpass will remain closed for the time being while Washington State Department of Transportation officials determine what it will take to repair or replace it. The bridge was closed to traffic March 4.
“We had a two-and-a-half by about a two-and-a-half foot hole in the bridge deck,” said Chris Keifenheim, WSDOT North Central regional director. “It looks like that bridge is likely going to be closed until we can determine (whether) rehab or replacement is necessary and what that looks like.”
The closest detour route is south of George at the intersection with the State Route 281 Spur and State Route 283, said Lauren Loebsack, communications manager for the WSDOT North Central region, in an earlier interview.
Wheeler Roundabout: Construction of the new roundabout at the intersection of Road L Northeast and East Wheeler Road is done, the last phase of a project that began in 2025.
Wheeler Road is an industrial area, and the roundabout is designed to allow trucks to run over the curb. Construction began in late February.
Levi Bisnett, project supervisor for Moses Lake Public Works, said in an earlier interview that drivers will have to make some adjustments, especially drivers on Wheeler. The pre-roundabout configuration had a stop sign on Road L, but now drivers on Wheeler will have to yield to cars in the roundabout.
“It’ll be a little bit different, but it’ll be smoother and safer,” Bisnett said.
SR 17: Department of Transportation crews are sealing cracks along State Route 17 north of Moses Lake, a project that began Monday. Drivers should plan for flagger-controlled traffic and delays in the work zone.
Crews will be working for about nine miles along SR 17, starting about milepost 56, said Sebastian Moraga, WSDOT communications consultant, in an earlier interview.
Vantage Bridge: Construction work has resumed on the Vantage Bridge and drivers heading east and west on Interstate 90 should be prepared for single-lane traffic and reduced speeds in the work zone. The traffic restrictions are in effect 24/7 in the work zone, said Summer Derrey, communications manager with the WSDOT South Central region, in an earlier interview.
All four lanes of the bridge will be open on summer holiday weekends. Those include Memorial Day, May 22 through 26; Fourth of July weekend, July 3 through 6 and Labor Day, Sept. 4 through 8.

Road projects on hold for Labor Day weekend
MOSES LAKE — With Labor Day weekend dead ahead, drivers will be able to move freely about the state. Most road projects are on hold for the holiday weekend.
