KELSEY EVANS | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 month, 3 weeks AGO
The skies delivered the goods just in time for the 27th annual Nate Chute Banked Slalom and Boardercross at Whitefish Mountain Resort March 14-15, with over 20 inches of snow falling the week of the races.
Stoke was high as about 135 people participated in this year’s rendition of one of the longest running snowboarding races in the nation.
Races included a Saturday banked slalom rolling through the Silvertip trees into George’s Gorge, and a Sunday boardercross with heats of up to five snowboarders racing across hand-built turns and jumps on Goat Haunt.
All proceeds of the event go to the Nate Chute Foundation, a mental health awareness and suicide prevention nonprofit.
In the open/pro women’s division, Audrey Hebert successfully defended her 2025 title after placing first in both the slalom and cross. Anna Bengtson and Kiana Putman were second and third, respectively.
For the pro/open men, John Duty combined two second place finishes to take the overall grand title. Timothy Amish and Chris Bradley were second and third.
Earl Reynolds won old joes, Brendan DeOrsey won men’s 30s, Max Jakob won men’s 20s, and Ronan Gavin won men’s youth.
Kaili Hagen won old josies, Jade Sherman won amateur women’s and Kya Alderman won women’s youth.
