Lake County All-Conference and All-State selections released

The Montana All-State high school honors are out and Lake County saw some notable mentions across all class levels. Here’s a check-in on what local athletes were recognized for dominating on the hardwood this year.


Class A: Kolby named Most Valuable Player

Starting in Ronan, the boys cleaned up the All-Conference awards with Ronan senior Kolby Finley being named the Northwest A Most Valuable Player. He also earned a First Team All-Conference and All-State selection.

He is joined by Ronan junior Matiya Nenemay as a First Team All-Conference and All-State selection. Ronan senior Jhett McDonald earned a Second Team All-Conference selection and Ronan junior Siouxpixm Qualtier earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention.

The Ronan girls saw sophomore Nefertiti Stewart grace the All-Conference Second Team. Her teammate and junior Kailyn Morengo was an All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Polson junior Malakai Curley earned a Second Team-All Conference selection. His teammate, sophomore Kyson Michel, was the only other Pirate to receive a selection as he landed on the All-Conference Honorable Mention roster.

The Polson girls racked up accolades as well with Polson junior Rylee Taylor-Jefferson named First Team All-Conference and an All-State selection. Fellow juniors Hinkley Moss and Aleysia Black landed on the All-Conference Second Team and All-Conference Honorable Mention Team, respectively.


Class B: LaFrombois lands on All-State

The area B schools also saw some major awards, beginning with Mission senior Lex LaFrombois, who landed on the All-State Team and Mission junior Vinny Shepard, who earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.

The Lady Bulldogs saw multiple selections, with senior Cora Matt and junior Kieran Incashola earning All-State selections. They are joined by senior Shaedon Kain, who earned a spot on the All-Conference first team.

Arlee boys saw senior Josh Horn grace the All-Conference First Team. His teammate, freshman Kade DuPuis-Pablo, earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. 


Class C

Multiple Class C athletes also got some recognition after the end of this season.

Charlo Vikings senior Karson Cox was named to the All-State team.

The Charlo girls had four entries with senior Brielle Zempel, junior GG Hawk and junior Maizey McDonald all earning All-Conference First Team selections. Senior Madison Harris notched an All-Conference Second Team honor to round out their accolades.

The Two Eagle River boys had three selections, with senior Jayvian Burke being an All-State selection. Senior Talon Addison earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team, while fellow senior Ryiley Gates landed on the All-Conference Second Team.

The lone Two Eagle River girl to earn a selection was junior Keke Tenas, who earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team.

Cultural exchange exposes local athletes to international wrestling

The top high school wrestlers in Montana will receive scholarship offers and state tournament wins while perfecting the craft of folk-style wrestling. However, for just a couple of weeks in the summer, the best of Montana’s wrestlers will also have a chance to see different kinds of wrestling, all while overseas. This year, that includes four athletes from Ronan and one from Arlee and is lead by Team Montana Cultural Exchange.
