A woman accused of breaking into the home of her boyfriend's lover last spring earned a deferred sentence in Flathead County District Court in February.
Madison Degele, 19, of Kalispell, pleaded not guilty to felony aggravated burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief at her July 31 arraignment before Judge Amy Eddy, but reached a deal with prosecutors by December.
In exchange for a guilty plea to an amended felony burglary charge, prosecutors agreed to recommend she receive a deferred three-year sentence. Degele entered the guilty plea on Dec. 3 and Eddy ordered the misdemeanor charge dismissed the same day.
Eddy stuck to the terms of the agreement at Degele's Feb. 19 sentencing and gave her credit for 15 days of time served.
Degele allegedly tracked her ex's new lover to a home on Morning View Drive on April 28. Breaking in, Degele attacked the victim and another man in the home with an aluminum baseball bat, court documents said. She eventually retreated from the home, but not before allegedly smashing the back window of the victim's vehicle while leaving.
Deputies with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office headed to the home after a child inside phoned 911 and told authorities that an intruder was beating their mother with a bat, according to court documents.
