Legends Restyling in Evergreen opened as a family-owned business that values supporting the community with a “pay it forward” mentality.
Levi Smith and his wife, Brooke Hall, own and operate Legends Restyling located in the PNC Evergreen Business Park. The shop offers services such as custom wraps, ceramic tinting and detailing for vehicles, RVs, trailers and boats. Smith said they also do window tinting on residential and commercial buildings.
Smith became interested in cars at a young age, growing up in Seattle and eventually moving to Columbia Falls, where he graduated from high school.
“My family, they all have muscle cars and classics. My dad was an ASE-certified mechanic my whole life, so I grew up helping him in the garage,” Smith said.
Smith has worked in the automotive industry for the past eight years, starting out as a detailer and becoming an autobody technician at a local body shop, when he decided it was time to pursue a new venture that allowed him to spend more time with his young family and reached out to his business partner Kevin Whitman who owns a shop in North Dakota but hails from Columbia Falls, which he visits often.
In February, Legends Restyling officially opened its doors at 359 Alden Loop, Unit A, in Evergreen.
As business owners, Smith and Hall wanted to be involved in the communities they serve and were looking for ways to give back when they learned of an opportunity to team up with the Silver Bullet Bar and Casino to host a car show to raise funds for rebuilding Deer Park School’s playground.
“That’s one of our main goals for starting this business — we wanted to be able to give back,” Smith said.
Hall said they are still accepting sponsors for the Rev It Up To Rebuild car show fundraiser planned from noon to 6 p.m. May 16. The public is invited to bring their rides to the car show for a chance to win prizes and trophies. The family-friendly event will be held at the Silver Bullet, 1700 Montana 206, Columbia Falls.
The interest in giving back to the community stems from personal experience of accepting help from others early in Smith’s career.
“When we were starting out ... we struggled, and random people helped us get by, and so I believe in the whole pay it forward thing. Having our own shop kind of makes that more of a possibility," Smith said.
“I feel like if you support your community and you strive to make a change in your community, you know, it just makes it a better place, a better place to live. Our kids will have a better upbringing,” he added.
If the fundraiser is successful, he said they would like to do more for the small rural school in Columbia Falls, which has struggled to secure funding for building repairs.
“We’ve got some big plans. I hope the community can help make it happen,” Smith said.
