Dominant relay wins and numerous personal bests made for an exciting day on the track for the Bulldogs at the Bigfork Invite Saturday. Impressive all-around performances led to a team win for the Whitefish girls, who amassed 112 points to take first over second-place Columbia Falls’ 70, and a respectable second place for the boys, who totaled 83.5 points, second to Bigfork’s 115.

The Whitefish girls sprint depth continues to be a highlight. Anna Boysen placed second and Ginger Bergland third in a tightly contested 100 meters, with Hayley Reardon close behind in fourth. Bergland later captured the 400 title in a personal best of 1:01.37, while Reardon finished second and Boysen fourth.

Freshman Kendall Dye brought more points in distance, taking first in the 1600 in 5:30.06, and Sophie Douglas placed second in the 3200. On the field, Avery Orme won the long jump with a personal-best mark of 16 feet, 6½ inches; she also finished fourth in the 200.

Relay teams were a major strength for Whitefish. The girls 4x100 relay team of Reardon, Stella Grubb, Arnica Beale, and Neva Sliman surged to victory in 52.66, while the 4x400 relay team of Millie Meyer, Olimpia Sarraille, Liesel Klein and Sliman won convincingly in 4:21.79.

Additional points came from Sol Holmquist’s second-place finish in javelin and Bergland’s third-place effort in pole vault.

On the boys side, Colby Minton led the sprinting charge with a decisive win in the 200, clocking 22.76. John Stephens added a strong fourth-place finish in the 100 at 11.90 and later anchored a win for Whitefish in the 4x400 relay. That relay team of Stephens, Parker Retz, Nathan Zetooney and Minton posted 3:35.61.

Whitefish also earned solid relay points in the 4x100, finishing second in 44.67 behind Columbia Falls. The Bulldogs quartet of Austin Alton, Zetooney, Minton and Henry Boysen recorded a season-best effort.

In the field events, Braylon Dunn delivered one of the meet’s most dominant performances. Dunn nearly swept the throwing events, winning shot put at 47 feet, 2¾ inches and discus with a throw of 144 feet, ½ inch, while also placing second in javelin at 149 feet, 4 inches. Senior Colt Moss placed second in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 37 feet, 9¾ inches. Anderson Barrile in shot put and William Cubbage in discus racked up even more points for the Bulldogs.
