RITZVILLE — A Kennewick man was killed while skydiving during a scheduled group jump May 24. Randy Hubbs was one of 11 people participating in the jump, according to a release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

“Preliminary findings indicate an in-flight collision occurred,” the ACSO release said.

Hubbs allegedly ran into Nicole Klein, Colville. The incident was reported at about 5:30 p.m.

“Following the collision, Randy Hubbs reportedly became incapacitated and was no longer in control of his parachute canopy,” the ACSO release said.

The accident occurred in the 2000 block of East Schoessler Road, about three miles north of Ritzville, the release said.

“Witnesses stated Hubbs appeared unresponsive, with his head and arms down, disappearing beyond a hill (to the) northeast,” the release said. Klein also was injured, it said.

The case is still under investigation.
