New restaurant open in downtown Coeur d’ Alene
BOB KIRKPATRICK | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 3 weeks, 1 day AGO
People's Waffle, one of Coeur d'Alene's newest eateries, is serving breakfast and brunch seven days a week, at 400 N. Fourth St.
"We opened on May 22," said co-owner Jacy Janson. "My co-owner, Alyssa Agee, served waffles from a food truck in Spokane in 2020, made from her grandmother Gigi's recipe. She grew it into a restaurant at 15 S. Howard St. I applied in 2022. When I got an opportunity to join ownership in 2024, I took it."
The menu at the North Fourth Street location serves six different sweet waffles, six savory waffles, and four waffle sandwiches. All are gluten-free.
"The Sweet Flight is our most popular sweet waffle because you get a sample of each sweet waffle. Our Benny — we do a Benedict — is our most popular savory waffle, and our BLT with garlic aioli is our most popular waffle sandwich," Janson said.
Janson said her sweet waffles have house-made whipped cream, jams, cookie crumble and caramel sauces on them.
People's Waffle also offers specialty coffees and teas, including matcha and mimosas and has a whole-orange juicer.
The restaurant has a seating capacity of 87. Janson said she served close to three times as many people at her grand opening.
"There were between 250 and 275 that day," Janson said. "I feel like that's going to be pretty typical of our weekends. During the weekday, that number will drop a bit."
Janson currently has a staff of five. She co-owns the business and the location with Robin Felsing, the restaurant's manager.
Janson said they chose the Coeur d'Alene location because of the people who were frequenting the Spokane restaurant.
"A lot of people from Idaho — Post Falls and the surrounding areas — were going there," she said. "We have the same menu and monthly specials, but once our kitchen finds its rhythm and flow, we'll have our own unique specials."
Janson said she offers a kids menu and a 15% discount to active military personnel. People's Waffle menu is at www.peopleswaffle.com.
The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m, Monday through Sunday.
Plans for People's Waffle may include expansion into other regional towns.
"We are interested in possibly franchising at some point," Janson said. "But right now, we're really excited about being a part of the community in Coeur d'Alene."

Local boy stars in Travolta movie
“When they told me I got the starring role, I freaked out. I was shocked because I never thought I would have gotten the chance to star in a movie, let alone with John Travolta, who I really didn’t know at the time," Clark said.
