Construction is wrapping up on a 25-acre boat and recreational vehicle storage facility at 18288 N. Pope Road in Hayden. The facility, Hayden Boat and RV Storage, owned by Coeur d'Alene resident John Kearn, is targeting a mid-to-late November opening.

"When I started developing the land in 2008, it was all fallow ground," Kearn said. "Nothing had been planted here — the land was basically left alone."

Kearn is no stranger to the storage business, having owned several facilities over the years.

"I've had four in the area — the Post Falls Self Storage and Post Falls East Self Storage and Valley Self Storage and the Valley East Self Storage in Spokane Valley and sold all of them," Kearn said.

His newest venture will house 102 enclosed units and 104 covered units.

"Forty-eight of the enclosed units are 14-feet wide by 35-feet long and 14-feet tall. The other 54 units are 14-feet wide by 47-feet long by 14-feet tall," Kearn said. "There will also be four 12,000-foot canopy structures, each having 26 spaces that are 12-feet wide by 35-feet long by 14-feet tall with 4-foot-tall eaves sitting on paved concrete."

Kearn is offering a $1 first full month move-in special. A canopy unit costs $195 per month. The smaller enclosed units are $295.The larger units are $395. Each enclosed unit comes with a long LED ceiling light and two 15-amp outlets.

"They are to be used for battery trickle chargers," Kearn said. "No heaters or refrigerators are allowed."

Kearn said the storage facility will offer security measures.

"We'll have 4K cameras posted throughout the property that people can access from their cellphones 24/7 for $15 per month," Kearn said. "You can also rent a portable alarm for $15 a month that will notify you on your cellphone if there's a disturbance inside your unit."

Kearn said the location of his RV and boat storage unit is ideal.

"There's a heck of a lot of traffic going by every day," Kearn said. "We're in the midst of building our 20-by-40-foot office space and will soon have our sign up and then we'll be open for business."

The Hayden Boat and RV website is still under construction. But you can call John Kearn at 208-640-0711 or visit Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for more information.

After completion, Hayden Boat and RV Storage will have 102 enclosed units and 104 canopy spaces at its facility at 18288 North Pope Road.
