Whitefish golf turned in another strong performance at the Polson Invitational on Monday, Sept. 15, placing second in the boys competition and winning the girls team title. They followed that with a sweep at the Hamilton Invite to close out the regular season with heaps of top-three finishes. 

In Polson Mason O'Neill led the Bulldog boys by tying for third with an even-par 72 as Whitefish posted a team score of 306, second only to host Polson's 290. Livingston was third with 318. Bulldog Zack Schmid-Sommer tied for fifth with 73 and Nick Schmid-Sommer tied for 10th with 77.   

On the girls side, Karlee Brown shot a 78 to finish runner-up, while Jillian Wagner added an 82 as the Bulldogs captured the team championship with a score of 340. Rhylee Scott was fifth (85) and Baylee Hyland 13th (95).  

Polson was the second-place team with 378, closely followed by Corvallis with 390, Hamilton with 390 and Frenchtown with 391. 

At Hamilton on Saturday both Whitefish teams earned first place. Bulldogs Zack Schmid-Sommer and Ashton Taylor tied for fourth each shooting 75. On the girls side, Brown was second to repeat competitor Cameron Burnett of Hamilton, shooting 74 to Burnett’s 73. Wagner was fourth with 85.  

The Bulldogs return to familiar territory, teeing off at Polson on Saturday for Western A Divisionals. Last year, the girls secured second and the boys fifth at divisionals. In 2024 the girls won and the boys came in second, an improvement from dual-fifth place finishes in 2023.  

The Dawgs will be looking for hardware and bids to the state tourney, which will be in Shelby Oct. 2-3.
