This letter is in response to Mr. Jerry Shriner's recent letter to the editor concerning SB 1006 and SB 1007, which appeared under the headline "Workers: Judges Ruling Got It Right."

FRAUD: Were voters from Mars?

There were two letters published on Nov. 30 that had to be answered. First, Doug Strong said that there is "total lack of evidence of significant [voter] fraud." Well, perhaps he missed the debacle about the court case that discovered voter fraud in the Coeur d'Alene City Council election, that left the incumbent with a two-vote margin instead of five. Further, if you research the 2008 election, you will find that dead people, illegals, bribery and faked names were a staple of ACORN's voter registrations.

Labrador lauds bills to lower gas costs

TEACHERS: Get paid too much

Does anybody besides me get tired of teachers always complaining about how they don’t get paid enough? First of all they should only get 75 percent of the pay they now receive. That’s all they “work.” A good machinist that labors at a machine making products for the medical field or car parts might make $40,000 a year if he is lucky. Reality is closer to $30,000 around here. That’s 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. They don’t get 3 months a year off.

Teachers say they need an additional 5 percent increase in salary. I wonder what the rest in our communities will make this next year? Will they all make an additional 5 percent? I sincerely doubt it. Maybe even 1 percent would be more than many are going to make.
