Helgard W. Rogers, 84

Helgard Waltrud Rogers, 84, of Coeur d'Alene, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, at Kootenai Medical Center in The Circle of Life. Helgard was born in Oberhausen-Osterfeld, Germany. She married and moved to the U.S. in 1948. She spent many years managing A & W Family Restaurants and donated fifteen years managing the North Idaho Hospice Thrift Store.

Flathead County sheriff

A passer-by in a grocery store parking lot saw a man and a woman allegedly assault an employee and try to escape with a 24-pack of beer and a basket of groceries. The woman was caught, but her partner fled. Flathead County Sheriff's deputies caught him a short while later and ticketed him on suspicion of theft, resisting arrest and probation violation. The woman was ticketed on suspicion of theft, assault and criminal mischief.
