Section 2-7-521, MCA, requires the publication of the following summary of significant findings. Summary of Significant Findings The audit report for Flathead County for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016, contained an Independent Auditor's Report on the County's financial statements. The report issued for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016 was an unqualified report. The audit report also contained several other auditor's reports. Following is a listing of the reports and a summary of the findings included in each. This is only a summary and is not intended to be used as an audit report. 1. Looks like we may have turned the corner on freezing temps at night, but, if you’re ol’ school there’s still snow on the Alhambra Slide above Kellogg and old timers as a rule never planted their gardens before its rock is bare. Anyway, this weekend looks to be rainless, jus’ right for the Shriners Benefit ATV Ride in Smelterville Saturday. Organizers could have 800-1,000 four wheelers and side-by-sides in what is the largest ATV ride in the area. Next Tuesday, May 22, Hospice of North Idaho will hold a non-denominational memorial service at St. Pius in CD’A at 5:30 pm. Hospice assisted many Silver Valley persons and their families in their waning days, to include Rose Mary, Ralph Dune, and many others. There will be a reception to follow.

New wildlife feeding ban takes effect in WA amid concerns of CWD
OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has adopted new regulations prohibiting the feeding of deer, elk and moose statewide, effective last Friday. This decision comes as a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk of transmitting Chronic Wasting Disease, an always-fatal neurological disease that affects cervids, among Washington’s wildlife populations. The rule was formed in response to the discovery of CWD in Eastern Washington for the first time in 2024. With no known cure for this disease, state officials identified the need to reduce concentrations of cervids at feeding sites, which could accelerate the spread of this and other wildlife diseases.
