Milton Schauble peacefully passed away at home on Oct. 10, 2021 due to congestive heart failure.

Child’s unkempt hair upsets ex-wife

A man reportedly wanted to advise Whitefish Police Department that his ex-wife was angry with his current wife about the condition of their child’s hair, accusing him of child abuse. He thought she might make this claim to police, which he said was not true.

Ken Young, 77

Ken Young, 77 years old, from Coeur d’Alene, passed away after a brief illness on March 29, 2020, with family by his side. He was born in Los Angeles to Bob, a sergeant in the Army Air Corps, and Eleanor.

Exploring the Seep Lakes can pay off for anglers

MARDON RESORT — Between Moses Lake and Othello, there’s a great big reservoir that boasts excellent bass, walleye and other fishing. Potholes Reservoir is kind of a well-known mecca for anglers. Head a little south and the landscape is dotted with myriad little spots of blue, somewhere around 70 of them – nobody really seems sure. These are the Seep Lakes, and they’re one of the Basin’s best-kept fishing secrets...

Deer Park principal Dan Block doesn’t have to walk far to get a file. The bathroom just outside his office is stacked with them. There’s no room to store them elsewhere, so they sit in a bathtub that hasn’t been used in years.

New airport hotel opens doors

A new 100-room hotel just south of Glacier Park International Airport opened to guests on Tuesday. The 62,000-square-foot Radisson-affiliated Country Inn and Suites is the first hotel to go up adjacent to the airport campus.

It's cherry time

POLSON — The Flathead Lake Cherry Festival, an annual Polson tradition, celebrated its fourteenth year over the weekend. The festival has everything from a cherry cooking competition to a cherry pie eating contest. Along with local cherry growers, street vendors and a student art contest there was something for everyone this weekend down on Main Street.

The effort to remove non-native fish species from Flathead Lake

On a boat on the southern half of Flathead Lake, a small tribal fishing crew is waging a slow battle. As gears turn, a carefully placed gill net is hauled into the boat. Mostly lake trout and whitefish are tangled in the net, writhing in the open air. Crewmembers untangle the fish and toss them into their respective bins, removing them from the lake’s population and moving one step closer to accomplishing their goal: restoring the populations of native westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout in the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.
