Because June 20 falls on a Sunday this year, county officials reminder residents that property taxes must be postmarked or paid by June 21.

Worth the trip: Used book sale at Mid-Columbia Libraries

KENNEWICK — The Friends of the Mid-Columbia Libraries is giving book lovers a chance at some bargains at the organization’s spring used book sale, continuing through May 1 at the Kennewick MCL branch, 1620 South Union St. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, according to a MCL press release. Sale items include CDs, DVDs and audiobooks on CD along with books. Debit and credit cards are accepted. Customers are encouraged to bring their own bags.

St. Ignatius man sentenced for peace officer assault

William G. Rossbach, of St. Ignatius, was sentenced April 1 to 14 years at the Montana State Prison on one count of assault on a peace or judicial officer, a felony. He received credit for 322 days served.

LAUREN BENEDICT - 40 under 40

Lauren Benedict, executive manager and COO of Knudtsen Chevrolet, is a 2013 graduate of Lake City High School and as a dual credit student, she graduated from North Idaho College that same year. She went on to Gonzaga to earn her bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in organizational leadership. In 2021, she completed the National Automobile Dealers Association Academy. She has worked at the dealership owned by her family for over seven years, in human resources management. Active in the community, Lauren’s volunteer work includes service with the local chambers of commerce and United Way of North Idaho.

Flathead Electric to cut checks to members

In December, the Flathead Electric Cooperative will issue about 36,000 checks worth around $2.4 million to people who were members during the year 2006. People who were members during 2016 will get allocation notices that tell them how much money they have credited to their account.
