Concert seeks to rock out cancer

Rock out and help those affected by cancer. Oh, and the benefit concert which makes both possible is a whole lot of fun, too. This year's concert, set for July 8, will feature musician Jacob Robins and the Miah Kohal Band, both strong supporters of CCS. In fact, the Miah Kohal Band was at the first Rock Out Cancer concert in 2011.

Devils fall, Lions on to state

WENATCHEE – The MLCA/CCS Lions punched their ticket to state with an appearance in Thursday’s 1B District 6 Championship game against Entiat, while the Wilson Creek Devils were eliminated in the consolation bracket to Waterville-Mansfield. The Lions had defeated Waterville-Mansfield in the semi-finals to advance to the title game, while Wilson Creek had lost to No. 1 seed Entiat in the semis. “We played well against Waterville, and we had our shot,” MLCA/CCS head coach Dean Spurbeck said. MLCA/CCS took the first set 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but the Tigers fought back to win the next three sets for a 3-1 win and a district title. Both teams qualified for state solely by making the championship game.

MOSES LAKE – Berths to the 2023 state basketball tournament are on the line for both the Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian School’s boys and girls basketball squads on Thursday night, as they prepare to play in their respective district title games at Wenatchee High School. MLCA/CCS Girls Having earned the No. 1 seed in the Central Washington 1B tournament, the Lions only needed one win to advance to Thursday's title game. Their 62-20 over Entiat marked MLCA/CCS’s 13th straight win and punched its ticket into the district championship. Senior Kali Kast led the Lions with 21 points, 10 of which came in the first quarter. Fellow senior Makiya Kast scored 15 points in the win, connecting on two first-quarter three-pointers.
