LETTER: Thanks for help with Arts in Park

The Hockaday Museum of Art held its 48th “Arts in the Park” over the weekend of July 15-17. Nearly 100 artists exhibited their creations for sale. The weather was nearly perfect, with only a little rain, and the food and drink vendors provided a wide range of food and drink for the more than 7,000 people who supported the museum by attending. In sum, it was a successful event for the arts and a major fundraiser for the county’s premier art museum.

Smoke doesn't always mean fire

A caller told the Columbia Falls Police Department that smoke alarms were going off and there was an odor of an electrical burn with smoke in the kids’ rooms. The person said there was dust in the baseboard heater and was inside looking for the fire. She was told to go outside and wait. Another caller reported smoke coming from the downstairs apartment and the smoke detector was going off. Apparently a pan was left on the stove, but there was no fire.
