Lawbreakers must be held accountable
“Let’s make a deal” seems to be the slogan of the Bonner County Prosecutor’s Office and the rest of the North Idaho justice system. It seems that not a day goes by, when I don’t read in local newspaper or hear on the local radio station, that a person has been arrested for any number of felony or misdemeanor charges for violation of statutory law.

Fill out survey on milfoil treatment funding

Science backs up county's use of herbicides in lake
According to an article in the Daily Bee (July 9, 2006), opponents of the use of herbicides to suppress milfoil in the area's waterways are now turning to prayer vigils to "positively effect" (the) water." That recent study, involving 1,800 heart bypass surgery patients, failed to find any beneficial effect whatsoever. In fact, one group of patients who were prayed for had more complications than those who were not. (See
Why is Iowa being treated different than other areas?
Has anyone else experienced pictures of the flooding devastation in Iowa? Not the news glimpses where corn field are rotting in a foot of water, but rather the shots where a dozen two-story homes are piled up against bridges in river currents, and downtown skyscrapers whose bottom three levels are submerged. Comparing this disaster to a similar one, say Katrina or Rita, it raises a few questions.
No new taxes
That "black hole" of property taxation, LPOSD, is back again planning in 2008 to extract $18.3 million in plant facilities levy from its "money tree," we property owners. Look through the smoke and mirrors of LPOSD's upcoming propaganda deluge. Vote "no" as in 2006. LPOSD must learn to make do with existing resources just like the rest of us!
