Mayor Brent Teske announced June 7 that Libby secured about $464,000 from a state program for repair and upgrade work at the city’s wastewater plant.

The dollars came by way of the Montana Coal Endowment Program, which doles out emergency grants through the state Legislature every other year. Teske said the city would use the funds primarily for controls at the wastewater plant as well as other issues city employees have run into in recent years.

“Congratulations everyone, we’re on our way,” Teske said at the city council meeting.

Fast on its heels came the announcement that the city had earned a Renewable Resource Grant Program award from the state Department of Natural Resource Conservation. City Administrator Jim Hammons said he could not recall the dollar amount, but the funds similarly would go to work at the wastewater plant.
