Moses Lake Museum & Art Center
Lecture: “Umoja (Unity): Sustaining African Cultural Arts”

Afua Kouyate, speaker
Kouyate, co-founder of Kouyate Arts, will talk about African folkloric traditions and culture, and perform selections from her repertoire. Admission is free. Sponsored by the museum and NCW Libraries. Part of the museum’s Summer Speaker Series.

Fire on Main Art Gallery
Opening reception, Charles W. Palmer exhibit

The artist will be available to discuss his works during the 90-minute reception.

Lecture: “This is the End: How Movies Prepared Us for the Pandemic”

Robert Horton, speaker
Horton, a longtime movie reviewer, will discuss his thesis that disaster movies foreshadowed the reaction of people to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Admission is free. Part of the museum’s Summer Speaker Series, it’s cosponsored by the museum and NCW Libraries.

Hometown Showcase Summer Concert Series
7 p.m. Centennial Amphitheater, McCosh Park
Lake City Blues and Dimestore Prophets
The bands will perform in a free concert. Sponsored by the Moses Lake Creative District.

Grant County Fair
Gates open at 10 a.m. each day, 3953 Airway Dr. NE
The annual Grant County Fair runs five days, with free admission Tuesday. Admission is free before 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Admission for seniors is $5 Friday and Saturday.
The fair features exhibits ranging from animals to businesses, a carnival and Midway, entertainment and fair food.

Lecture: “What Laughter Tells Us: Asian-Americans, Comedy and Belonging”

Michelle Liu, speaker
Liu, associate director of writing programs at the University of Washington, will talk about humor and how Asian-American comics have used it. Admission is free. Part of the museum’s Summer Speaker Series, it’s cosponsored by the museum and NCW Libraries.

4 killed in collision near Royal City
ROYAL CITY — Four people were killed and five injured, one critically, when a passenger car collided with a truck about eight miles north of Royal City Tuesday afternoon. The collision occurred near the intersection of Dodson Road and Frenchman Hills Road Southwest, said Kyle Foreman, public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, in a media release.
EWU releases spring 2026 Dean’s List
CHENEY — Eastern Washington University has released its Dean’s List for spring quarter 2026, with 103 Grant and Adams County students receiving honors. To qualify for the Dean’s List, an undergraduate student must earn 12 quality hours and receive a grade point average of 3.5. These Basin students were named to the Dean’s List:
Railroad Fire evacuation notices canceled
MATTAWA — All evacuation notifications for the Railroad Fire near Beverly have been canceled as of Sunday evening. All roads have reopened.
