Santa art and journals coming to Moses Lake Museum & Art Center

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake resident Joshua Larson’s Santas will be open for viewing in the Ramon Cerna Community Gallery at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center from Nov. 4 through Dec. 30, according to a museum press release.
“I carve Santa ornaments because every year I see people spend a fortune on silly things that have a Santa face but serve little purpose. I carve them to look like homeless people and endangered animals because these would be a better use of our resources,” Larson said.
Larson’s artwork is displayed in shadow boxes and some leave the natural wood exposed to highlight the beauty of the material. Each piece is designed with a unique personality.
The Ramon Cerna Community Gallery is located at the front of the Museum, to the left of the museum store and is used for smaller collections and to support local aspiring artists.
The museum will also have handmade journal workshops during Free Family Saturdays in November. The event happens the first Saturday of each month, is free to attend and runs from noon to 2 p.m.
The museum is located at 401 S. Balsam Street in the Moses Lake Civic Center and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is also open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. The museum has several exhibits showcasing local history and the public is encouraged to visit to learn more about the history of Moses Lake and the surrounding area.
