Count on the Lady Cats for excitement, win or lose.
Splitting games with two fine District 13C teams last week, coach Jeff Schultz’s District 14C Superior Lady Cats defeated Lincoln 51-24 in Superior Thursday before traveling to Seeley Lake and falling 48-45 to the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks Friday.
Now 3-1 in non-conference action the Lady Cats open conference play this week hosting Hot Springs Friday and visiting Charlo Saturday.
Shultz was very happy to see his girls get past a very good Lincoln team Friday. “Lincoln is a really talented team with a style that’s vastly different than ours,” he said. “Thankfully, our girls were able to impose our game over theirs, we feel great getting out of there with a win.”
Although individual coring from the game was not available, Schultz said that Josie Crabb and Maryisa Swope were the Bobcats’ high scorers in the win over Lincoln.
Schultz said the Cats led much of the way against Seeley before relenting in the late going. “We made too many mistakes, committed too many turnovers in the second half of that game. And we still had the lead with under a minute to play, that’s one we wish we could have back.”
Crabb and Makenzie Reum were the high scorers for the Cats in Seeley, Schultz said, adding that Ava White and Lily Jasper continue to be defensive stalwarts for Superior on the point leading the full court pressure the Bobcats employ.
Schultz aid the Bobcats are looking forward to opening 14C play this week with the games against Hot Springs and Charlo.
“There have been a few surprising results in games so far this season,” he said. "We look forward to seeing how we match up with some of the other teams in our conference this week.”
