Horsemen go cold heading into break

Playing solid basketball otherwise, the cold-shooting Plains Horsemen could not overcome the lack of scoring the cold shooting caused and fell 58-36 to the Lincoln Lynx in Plains Friday.
In other non-conference action last week, coach Tyrel Allen and his young Horsemen dropped at 72-24 decision to defending State B champion Loyola in Missoula last Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Completing the 2025 portion of their schedule, the Horsemen return to action hosting Troy Jan. 3 to open District 7B conference play.
Although the Horsemen were plagued with shooting woes in the loss to Lincoln, Allen was pleased with how his young squad handled the ball. After committing 26 turnovers in the game in Missoula Tuesday the Horsemen had only such 11 miscues against Lincoln Saturday.
“I like to shoot for 12 turnovers or less and we only had 11 so I was happy with that,” he said. “The problem was we just didn’t shoot very well. We hit 25% of our shots while Lincoln made 48-49% of theirs. We were getting plenty of open looks, just couldn’t seem to get them down.”
Freshman Jackson Revier “played his best varsity game yet,” Allen said, leading the Horsemen against Lincoln with 12 points and six rebounds, besides playing a strong defensive game.
Jeff Siebert scored 11 points, Cooper Meredith six, Jarrett Weeks and Kylan Bostick two apiece and Eddie Siebert one. Tristan Allen added two points and four steals.
Dylan Jakushak led Lincoln to the road victory with 21 points, Roegan Deitz added 15 and Myles Greany 11.
In Missoula against Loyola, Weeks led the Horsemen with eight points, Jeff Siebert scored six, Revier and Meredith three each, and Chase DePoe and Bostick two apiece.
Cam Patton led Loyola with 18 points and Juno Kendrick added 14 for the Rams.
