Trotters rally past Trojans for homecoming win

The Trotters celebrated homecoming week in Plains by defeating the visiting Troy Trojans 19-25, 25-15, 25-13, 28-26 at PHS Saturday.
Trotter coach Kim Lakko was happy with how her team performed.
“I was very proud of the back row for their outstanding serve receive passing and defense overall,” she said. “It was a true team win, because everyone did their part and maximized each other's strengths.”
As is her habit, Lako praised her opponents as well. “It is great seeing Troy's volleyball program grow with a C team, JV, and varsity presence,” she said. “They play with heart, have tough serving, and some great passing and defense. They did a great job.”
Hadyn Rice smacked 20 kills, blocked five shots and hit three aces to lead Plains against Troy, Aubree Butcher hit 13 kills, four blocks and three aces, Mila Rivinius added eight Ks and four blocks, Taylor Saner a team-high 18 digs, Jaycee Carr 15 digs, Bri Kulawisnki five service aces and Kalli Tuma 11 set assists. Claire Lakko effectively directed the Trotter attack with 40 set assists, in addition to hitting four aces and blocking five shots.
In other action last week, the Trotters fell to Loyola 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 in a non-conference match in Missoula Tuesday.
Rice had 11 kills and five stuff blocks against the Breakers, Rivinius added five kills, Lakko 25 assists, six digs and three aces, Saner seven digs, Tuma six digs and two assists, and Carr an ace.
The Trotters have two 7B matches on tap this week, visiting Mission Thursday and hosting Eureka Saturday.
