The Tigers played tough but the Trotters had the horses in the end.
The Plains Trotters defeated the St. Regis Tigers in three sets in non-conference Volleyball action in Plains Saturday.
Up this week for coach Kim Lakko’s Trotters are District 7B matches with Mission in Plains Tuesday and in Eureka Saturday. St. Regis netters will host Alberton Wednesday and visit Noxon Thursday for a pair of District 13C matches.
Lakko was impressed with St. Regis. “I appreciated St. Regis’ scrappiness, great hustle plays, and tough serving,” she said. “They are a well-coached team.”
For her part, Tiger coach Kianna Barnett was impressed with both teams’ effort. “I’m very proud of how hard those ladies played,” she said.
After dropping the first two sets, St. Regis led most of the third set before the Trotters rallied for the win.
Aubree Butcher led the Trotters at the net with 10 kills, Jaycee Carr was good for nine, Kalli Tuma eight, Claire Lakko seven and Hadyn Rice six. Tuma and Butcher served up four aces apiece and Lakko and Rice three each. Mila Rivinius and Lakko each blocked three shots, and Rice and Tuma two apiece.
