Bobcats win again, eye key game in Mission
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 months, 2 weeks AGO
In lockdown mode the last two weeks, the Superior Bobcats hope to keep the defensive pressure on as they prepare for a key Western 8-Man football conference meeting with Mission Friday in Mission.
Fresh off a 52-6 win over Charlo in Charlo Friday and a 68-20 win over Troy in Superior a week earlier, coach Jeff Schultz’s Bobcats are now 2-1, while Mission, after defeating Plains 54-12 last week, will enter Friday’s game at 3-0.
“Mission will be a challenge, especially on their field,” Schultz said. "They have some really good skills players and a big, physical running back. We will need to be ready.”
Schultz said the Bobcats came out ready to play in Charlo Friday and seized control early, scoring touchdowns on a pair of long pass plays from quarterback Landon Richards to Gannon Quinlan on the first two series and going from there.
Before it was over, Turner Milender had also scored two touchdowns rushing and Finn Cataldo and Richards one apiece.
Schultz said defense was again key to the Bobcats’ success in Charlo, leaving the Superior offense short fields to work with time and time again. “We had a good defensive game plan, used man-to-man coverage and got after it with our defensive line,” he said. “They played off each other really well and ended the game with like seven quarterback sacks. That was a big factor in our success.”
