Lady Hawks seek improvement

Sure, wins are good and losses are bad, but Thompson Falls volleyball coach Sandra Kazmierczak is not too worried about all that right now. She thinks it’s the experience gained that counts the most.
“There are no wins and losses this time of year,” she said. “It’s all about playing and getting better together, that is what we are focused on.”
Obviously having some fun while they are doing just that, the Lady Hawks worked their way to a 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-13 non-conference win over Stillwater Christian Saturday. In other action last week, the Hawks fell to Mission in Mission 21-25, 25-19, 13-25, 25-23, 15-11 in a District 7B conference match Thursday.
Kazmierczak said her Lady Hawks actually seem to love everything about volleyball, including practices. “These girls are excited about it, they look forward to trying new things in practice, trying different stuff,” she said. “They’re having fun and getting better at the same time.”
Becoming a terror de force at the net more and more as the matches go by, junior Addy Deal led the Hawks against Stillwater Saturday, smacking 11 kills, blocking eight shots, digging up seven shots and serving five aces.
Returning All-State B hitter Gabi Hannum was good for nine kills, seven digs and three aces, returning all-7B netter Addi Pardee added seven kills, a tam-best 11 digs and two aces, Annalise Fairbank five Ks and seven digs, Emma Claridge two kills and four stuff blocks, and freshman setter Audrey Fairbank 32 set assists and three more aces.
At Mission, Deal compiled a stat line of 18 kills, six blocks, 20 digs and five service aces, Pardee chipped in with nine kills, 14 digs and two aces, Claridge four kills, 15 digs and two aces, Hannum five Ks, two blocks and 11 digs, Annalise Fairbank nine kills and 11 digs, and little sister Audrey Fairbank 34 more set assists.
