Trotters net one win, one loss in 7B volleyball

Win one, lose one, but the season still goes on.
Coach Kim Lakko and her Plains Trotters split District 7B conference matches last week, defeating Mission 25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 25-17 in Plains Tuesday before traveling to Eureka and falling 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 to the Lady Lions Saturday.
In the thick of conference action, the Trotters will visit Thompson Falls for another 7B encounter Thursday before hosting Darby in a non-conference friendly in Plains Monday this week.
Lakko said the match with Mission was well-played by both sides. “Plains and Mission battled hard,” she said. “It was a fun match on both sides of the court.”
Leading Plains statistically against Mission, Jaycee Carr hit four aces and Aubree Butcher and Hadyn Rice three each, Taylor Saner had nine digs and Claire Lakko, Kalli Tuma and Butcher seven each, Lakko hit eight kills and Rice and Mila Rivinius seven each, Lakko passed out 31 set assists and Tuma five, and Rice led the team in blocks with seven while Tuma and Lakko added five apiece.
Due to sickness issues with the Trotters Saturday, coach Lakko said the statistics gathering in Eureka was a little more general in nature. She added that all the sets were competitive and that both teams fought hard for every point.
In the end, the Trotters posted six service aces as a team, hit a total of 22 kills, came up with 38 digs and blocked eight Lion kill shot attempts.
