Those young ones can sure run, and are definitely worth watching into the future.

The Thompson Falls junior high runners competed in the middle school races at the Mountain West Invitational Saturday and the girls, in particular made quite a showing there.

Winning sixteenth place overall in a crowded field of runners was Falls sixth grader Hartleigh Block, who finished the 1.3 mile course in a very quick 8:53.97. Finishing next for the young Hawks, Shelby Harmon, a seventh grader, clocked out in 9:38.88 for 54th place. Also running and showing well were Kalsin McGuire (10:28) and AJ Anderson (13:24) for the Hawk girls.

In the middle school boys race, Nolan Wilkes (9:09) and Christopher Toyias (10:12) also ran fine races.

The Thompson Falls junior high harriers are coached by Holly Franck.

Franck’s boys and girls teams will compete again this week, in the Whitefish Invitational Tuesday and in the Thompson Falls Invitational at River’s Bend golf course Saturday.

Lady Hawks top Anaconda Copperheads, 45-20

To say the Lady Hawks’ shooting in Saturday’s 41-31 loss to the Blackhawks in Seeley Lake Saturday was bad is a dry understatement.
