A busy week of softball saw Polson and Mission/Arlee/Charlo sweep their weekly schedule, with Ronan getting a much-needed win.

Polson Softball 19, Whitefish Softball 4

The Lady Pirates started their weekend with the first of two wins over Whitefish on April 10.

It looked close in the first inning with Whitefish notching four runs to start. However, the Lady Pirates matched with six runs of their own in the first before running away with this game.

They went on to score 10 runs in the second inning, leaving no doubt that they were going to win. After a couple of insurance runs in the third and fourth innings, Polson took this game handily 19-4.

JJ Pierre and Ahri Rushing tied for most RBIs in that with three each.

Polson Softball 14, Whitefish Softball 0

It only took three innings to score what Polson needed to wrap up game two of their doubleheader against Whitefish.

It was a pitching clinic from Maddie Turner as she shut down batters the entire game. Polson matched on offense with four runs in the first inning, including a Natalie Nash home run.

After scoring just twice in the second, the Lady Pirates put up eight runs in the third to take this game over. The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t match as Polson won 14-0.

Turner allowed no runs and only three hits while logging six strikeouts. Nash led the team in RBIs with four.

Polson Softball 15, Browning Softball 0

Polson closed out their Saturday dominance with a final win over Browning.

The clock started for Browning after just one inning as Polson went up 10-0. They hit the ball well and the Lady Indians seldom had responses on the other end.

With the weather affecting the game, Polson only needed two more innings before winning this one. Three runs in the second and two runs in the third just added to a successful weekend for the Lady Pirates as they won 15-0.

Turner, Nash and Adrienne Crockett allowed just two hits the entire game with a combined seven strikeouts. Nash and Leilani OldHorn both logged two RBIs to lead the team.

Hamilton Softball 16, Ronan Softball 1

Ronan started the week with a tough home loss to Hamilton on April 7.

This game was decided early on when the Maidens surrendered 12 straight runs in the first inning. That scoring from the Lady Broncs carried them for the entire game.

The Maidens weren’t able to score until the third inning, and by that point, the game had gotten just too out of reach as Ronan fell 16-1.

The lone RBI was scored by Nevaeh Perez.

Columbia Falls Softball 9, Ronan Softball 8

Ronan had a chance at redemption in a close one against Columbia Falls on April 9.

It started strongly offensively for Ronan with back-to-back runs in the first and second innings. However, Columbia Falls equalized it after the third inning and took a 6-2 lead after four innings.

Ronan allowed Columbia Falls to mount a lead but not before putting up four runs in the top of the sixth inning. In a must-score seventh inning, the Maidens managed two runs. They dropped their second game of the week 9-8 against Columbia Falls.

KaNana Coutoure and Kai-Cee Sorrell both had two RBIs in that game to lead their team.

Ronan Softball 15, Browning Softball 0

In Ronan’s final game of the week, they got a much-needed victory over conference rival Browning on April 11.

It was a quick and well-rounded effort for the Maidens as they started the day with six runs in the first inning. Five runs in the second inning effectively sealed the victory for Ronan as they just had to hold out on the mound.

Alexa Youngren and Esther Montoya combined for 12 total strikeouts and allowed just one hit between both of them. Another four runs between the third and fourth innings helped Ronan earn their first win of the year 15-0.

There were 10 different Maidens to score a run with Perez, Shelby Taylor, Elizabeth Cheff, Natalie Ness and Keeley Jackson each scoring two runs.

MAC Softball 12, Powell County Softball 1

This dominant week started on April 10 when MAC earned their first of two victories against Powell County.

This game was decided early, with MAC taking an early 7-1 lead, Alecia Steele hitting a home run for the first runs of the game for the Lady Bulldogs.

That tone-setting run was followed up by two scoreless innings as the Lady Wardens were running out of chances to get back on the board.

MAC held out, adding another five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close out a blowout with a 12-1 lead.

Steele was the most valuable player of this game with two runs and four RBIs on three hits. She also scored the only home run of the game.

MAC Softball 16, Powell County Softball 2

MAC took on Powell County for game two on Friday to land their second victory of the week.

It took much longer for the Lady Bulldogs to run away with this game, going scoreless in the first inning. With both teams scoring in the second innings, MAC was going to need some life at home plate to get this game going.

A Steele double was exactly what MAC needed as they went on to score four runs and take a 5-1 lead. Both teams struggled to score until the sixth when MAC opened the game.

Five runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh solidified the 16-2 win for the Lady Bulldogs.

Steele had another strong game with two runs and two RBIs on three hits. Jada Domebo led the team in RBIs with three.

MAC Softball 16, Anaconda Softball 1

The Lady Bulldogs final game was another blowout against Anaconda on April 11.

It was another slow start as Anaconda took a 1-0 lead after the first inning. MAC rallied back in the third inning with three runs, but it wasn’t until the fourth that this game was truly decided.

MAC rattled off 13 runs in the fourth inning to win it. Anaconda couldn’t get past that massive deficit.

Ella Parker led the team in RBIs with four on two hits. Jada Domebo only allowed one run in four innings pitched with four strikeouts.
