St. Regis Tigers on the hunt for 14C crown

For the basketball crazy St. Regis Tigers, it doesn’t get any better than this. Big games with big stakes, and a regular season 14C title there for the taking.
Sporting an 8-0 record in District 14C play and a perfect mark of 16-0 overall, coach Jesse Allan and his Tigers will complete the regular season just the way they wanted to – playing meaningful games with a lot on the line, visiting 7-1, 13-3 Two Eagle River in Pablo on Thursday and hosting 4-4, 10-6 Mineral County rival Superior in St. Regis on Friday.
“It’s a big week to finish the regular season at Two Eagle and at home versus Superior,” Allan said, adding something that should strike fear into the hearts of St. Regis opponents. “The great news is I think were still getting better each week, hopefully we can peak, play our best ball at tournament time.”
The 14C tourney is in Polson beginning Feb. 19.
In preparation for this week’s big games, the Tigers rang up two more impressive wins last week, running past the Panthers 68-29 in a 14C conference game at Alberton Tuesday, and toppling the Trojans 71-58 in non-conference action at Troy Thursday.
At Alberton, almost every Tiger in the book scored. Conner Lulis led St. Regis with 20 points, Barrett Bessette scored 11, Nate Bohn 10, Isaac Kelly seven, Kaden Church six, Denver Thomas five, Easton Gillette four, Chet Hill and Sterling Gray two each and Tucker Desoto one.

At Troy, the Tigers scored a workmanlike victory over a very good Trojan team, a squad that had pressed St. Regis hard in St. Regis earlier this season. “As expected Troy was a game opponent and competed hard throughout,” Allan said, adding that the Tigers finally got some breathing room in the third quarter.
Lulis was again the Tiger that put the most points in the tank scoring 21 this time out, Bohn bucketed 16, Bessette 15, Thomas 10, Desoto seven, Kelly three and Hill one.
Nolan Morris led Troy with 19 points, Carson Orr added 14 and Thomas Guinard 12.
