Several construction projects will break ground in Glacier National Park this year, resulting in partial closures in many areas. 

Officials plan to close access to Two Medicine at the park boundary during the spring and fall of this year to accommodate a trio of construction projects repairing the area’s utilities, water distribution system and roads.  

Work began in fall 2025, when workers replaced a deep culvert in Two Medicine Road. During the winter months, the project was put on ice, and the road was opened to skiers and snowshoers. Officials plan to close the road again when construction resumes in the spring and fall, rendering the Two Medicine developed area inaccessible. 

The road and developed area will reopen for the summer months, except the campground, which will remain closed year-round. The road rehabilitation project is expected to conclude in late 2027 but may continue into 2028. 

St. Mary will receive an updated utility and water distribution system, with work beginning this spring. Visitors can expect partial campground closures in the fall of 2026 and the spring of 2027, while the visitor center expects to maintain its typical seasonal schedule. 

A project to repair the Polebridge Ranger Station’s water supply and distribution system will begin in August. The project includes a full closure of Inside North Fork Road to all traffic traveling from the ranger station toward Logging Creek in October. Access to Bowman Lake and Kintla Lake will not be affected. Some construction may continue in the area through spring 2027, though officials said visitors can expect minimal impact from ongoing work. 

Culvert work should begin in the fall of 2026 on North Lake McDonald Road.  

Officials plan to replace utility systems at Lake McDonald Lodge, Many Glacier Hotel and Granite Park Chalet in the coming years. 

In 2025, Swiftcurrent was closed to install a new water system, rehabilitate the roadway, and add 170 parking spaces to address traffic concerns. Construction is not anticipated in the area this year.
