Lady Red Devils learning as they grow
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 months, 2 weeks AGO
The young Noxon Lady Red Devil basketball team is learning the game the old-fashioned way, out on the court against quality opponents.
The Devils dropped two road games last week, falling 68-16 to the Vikings in Charlo Friday, and 32-26 to the Panthers in Alberton Saturday. Looking to continue their continuing improvement tour this week, the Devils will play Two Eagle River in Pablo Thursday and return to Noxon Friday to entertain the Superior Lady Cats in a pair of District 14C conference games.
“This was a very tough weekend for Noxon,” coach Cory Brodmerkle said of the games in Charlo and Alberton last week. “The girls worked hard in both games and were exhausted by the end of both.”
Brodmerkle said the Devils led most of the way in Alberton but the Panthers rallied to win in the end.
Abigail Yoder turned in another stellar effort in leading Noxon in that game, scoring 14 points, pulling down 11 rebounds, grabbing eight steals and passing out three assists.
Kaylie Mercer and Nevaeh Christensen added four points each and Georgia Rose and Sandy Bonney two points apiece. Bonney also cleared 10 rebounds and Mercer seven.
Marley Fredette led Alberton to the win with 21 points.
In Charlo Friday, Abigali Yoder, Mercer and Christensen scored four points each and Brielle MacArthur and Emily Yoder two apiece. Abigail Yoder also had five assists and four rebounds and Bonney four rebounds.
Brooke Cahoon scored 14 points for Charlo and Briell Zempel 13.
