Tiger girls all about growth and learning

To St. Regis girls basketball coach Zack Lott, this season is all about growth and learning for his Lady Tiger squad.
In their only game of the week, the Tigers fell 56-29 to visiting Seeley-Swan in St. Regis Saturday. Originally scheduled to play Alberton ins St. Regis Friday last week, Lott said that game has been rescheduled.
Up this week for Lott and company are games at rival Superior Thursday and with Two Eagle River in St. Regis Saturday.
“We are a young team that is growing and learning as we go,” he said. “These are big games for us this week so we are looking forward to that. We just want to take things one game at a time and keep on track for peaking at tournament time.”
Lott was pleased with how his Tigers competed against Seeley-Swan, considered one of the better teams in the Western C division.
“We played well, were able to close within 10 points at one stage in the third quarter,” he said. "It hurt us being down two players Saturday, one out with an injury and the other with a National Guard obligation.”
The team leader in minutes played this season, Lilly Sansom was the National Guard absentee Saturday.
Shannon Todd led St. Regis against Seeley-Swan with 11 points, Shelby Simkins added seven, Daisy Sansom four, Khila Teeters three and Mae Grosenbaugh and Emma Gillette two apiece.
Scoring for Seeley-Swan was not available.
