Bobcats bounce back with win over Vikings
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 weeks, 5 days AGO
Getting Gannon Quinlan back in the lineup was a big factor, but coach Jake McElroy was happy with his entire squad after the Superior Bobcats bounced back from a disappointing previous week to defeat Charlo 53-46 in 14C action in Superior Saturday.
Now 3-3 in District 14C play and 7-5 overall, the Bobcats return to action with a pair of road games this week, at Alberton Friday and at Drummond Saturday.
Originally set to play Victor last Tuesday, the Bobcats will make up that game in Superior Feb. 3, McElroy said.
Out for a couple of games with a thumb injury, Quinlan returned to the Bobcats’ lineup against Charlo and made an immediate impact, leading Superior to the win with 15 points, nine rebounds, two steals and six assists while committing only one turnover from his point guard position.
“Gannon did a good job of leading us, of directing our offense and taking care of the ball,” McElroy said. “But everyone contributed against Charlo, it was a great team effort, we committed only 12 turnovers, a great improvement from how we handled the ball the week before.”
Landon Richards enjoyed another stellar outing against Charlo, scoring 13 points, spearing 11 rebounds, grabbing five steals and blocking two shots, Logan Merrill scored 11 points and secured five rebounds, Amaire Johnson added six points, Phin Cataldo four and Henry Hanson and Noble Brockway two apiece.
Ronson Hout led Charlo with 14 points.
