Charlo gets best of Superior girls

The Vikings may be in the driver’s seat right now but the Lady Cats can still hit the eject button on Charlo. Only it will have to wait until tournament time now.
Charlo edged past the cold-shooting Superior Lady Cats 41-35 Saturday in a key District 14C contest. Though the game put a damper on the Cats’ hopes of winning the 14C regular season crown, there’s always the promise of another game with Charlo down the line, perhaps in the rapidly upcoming 14C tourney in Polson.
Before that, however, there are still important regular season games to be played.
Now 6-2 in 14C action and 10-3 overall, coach Jeff Schultz and his Lady Cats play at Alberton Friday in another 14C contest, before traveling to Drummond for a non-conference game with the Lady Trojans, one of the best teams in District 13C.
“We’re looking forward to the game with Drummond,” Schultz said. “They are a very tough team with experienced players, it will be a good game for us to just go out there play hard, have fun and see what happens.”
The Lady Cats played well in getting past Hot Springs in Superior Friday. Josie Crabb led the Cats to the win with 21 points, Maryisa Swope scored 16, and Makenzie Reum and Lily Jasper eight apiece.
In the game with Charlo, Crabb led the Cats again with 14 points, Swope added 10, Lily Jasper and Reum four each and Perri Jasper three.
GG Hawk scored 26 points for Charlo and Madison Harris eight.
