Just another great win for a great team.

The unbeaten, conference-leading St. Regis Tigers, ranked No. 6 in the most recent Class C state power poll, improved to 6-0 in District 14C play and 13-0 overall with another pair of wins last week, taking down Noxon 72-28 in 14C play Friday and battling past Troy 69-60 in non-conference action Saturday. Both games were played within the friendly confines of the St. Regis gym.

Coach Jesse Allan and his Tigers have two 14C games up this week, hosting Alberton Tuesday and visiting Charlo Saturday.

Allen liked how his team responded under fire against Troy. “Great win from our guys against a really tough, well coached Troy team,” he said.

It was a battle of high scorers in the fourth quarter against the Trojans, featuring the one-man wrecking crew of Conner Lulis for the Tigers, and the combined forces of Carson Orr, Thomas Guinard and Emerson Downey for Troy.

Orr scored 11 of his team-high 29 points in the game during the fourth quarter, Guinard eight of his 14 and Downey six of his eight on two treys in that run. Troy outscored St. Regis 25-19 in the fourth quarter.

Countering the high-scoring Trojan trio, Lulis went off for 15 of his game-high and career-high 35 points in the fourth period, hitting two of his four 3-pointers and five of seven free throws in that stretch to help the Tigers keep Troy at bay and eventually clinch the victory.

Nathan Bohn backed up Lulis’ career-high effort with 18 points, including four treys (with two of those in the fourth quarter), Isaac Kelly added eight points (with two threes), and Barrett Bessette and Denver Thomas four points each.

Against Noxon, which was hurt by the injury loss of Shane Hatchel in the second quarter, Lulis led the Tigers again with 23 points, Bohn added 13, Bessette 11, Chet Hill eight, Tucker Desoto five, Kelly four, and Thomas, Demor Hostetler, Easton Gillette and Christian Fenton two apiece.
