MOSES LAKE — A woman was arrested Thursday night after she allegedly attempted to steal items from a Moses Lake business and used force against an employee who tried to stop her, according to a press release from the Moses Lake Police Department.

Kristine Reneau, whose last address is Everett, was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of malicious mischief, the MLPD release said.

Reneau allegedly attempted to commit two separate thefts from Rains Foods, a store and gas station at the intersection of South Pioneer Way and East Nelson Road. The incident occurred at about 7 p.m.

“During the first theft, Reneau allegedly attempted to strike a 30-year-old female store clerk from Moses Lake and threatened her. During the second incident, Reneau reportedly damaged merchandise inside the store and threw items at the same employee,” the release said.

A bystander came to the aid of the store clerk, the release said.

“A 33-year-old male who was in the parking lot entered the store after observing the disturbance and intervened to stop the assault and property damage. Reneau allegedly assaulted the male before he was able to take her to the ground and detain her until officers arrived,” it said. “The male sustained a minor cut to his face. The store clerk was evaluated at the scene and transported by EMS for possible injuries.”
