QUINCY — Three people were injured when a dump truck struck a car east of Quincy on Monday, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol. 

At about 2:30 p.m., Michael D. Rose, 62, of Quincy was driving a 1989 Peterbilt dump truck south on Road O Northwest when he failed to yield at the stop sign at state Route 28, according to the statement. Rose continued through the intersection and struck a 2026 Subaru Outback driven by McKay S. Hintze, 20, of Nacogdoches, Texas. The truck pushed the Outback into an irrigation ditch, then came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of SR 28. 

Hintze and his passenger Noah S. Young, 20, of Layton, Utah, were transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Another passenger, Seth A. Freeman, 20, of Sparks, Nev., was also injured and was transported to Central Washington Hospital in Quincy. A third passenger, Tanner B. White of Glasgow, Mont., was unhurt. Rose was uninjured. 

All parties were wearing seat belts, according to the statement, and neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the collision. Rose faces charges of second-degree negligent driving, the WSP wrote.
